I love traveling, and I LOVE taking photographs of the places I travel!  While I wouldn’t consider myself a professional, I do have a knowledge of photography and how my camera works.  There is some photography equipment that I must have with me on vacation in order to take my desired photographs.  My equipment more than gets the job done, and takes some pretty amazing photographs if I don’t say so myself!  Here is a list of the equipment I have with me on every vacation!

1).  Canon 7d Camera with lens

The Canon 7D is my go-to camera for vacation photographs (like the one taken above at Katmai National Park).  You can’t go wrong with a Canon camera when it comes to quality.  It’s also easy to use and has a bunch of settings and options! This camera body also comes with the kit lens, so you’re all set to go take some photographs!

 2).  MeFoto Tripod

I love this tripod for traveling!  It is so lightweight and compact, so it makes it easy to pack or carry around.  The legs fold upward to make it smaller, and it comes with its own carrying case.  The head swivels 360 degrees so it’s perfect for taking those panoramic photos.  This tripod is very stable and sturdy, and does a great job holding my DSLR camera!

3).  Tamron SP 150-600mm Telephoto Lens

I really really love this lens.  I bring it with me especially when I know I will be photographing wildlife.  It has a wide range of zoom options, 150-600mm, so you can really zoom in close to those critters that you can’t get close to!  While not the top of the line zoom lens, it does a great job and takes great photographs, without breaking the bank!  It has options for both Canon and Nikon cameras.  (This link is for a lens compatible with a Canon camera.  Please make sure if ordering, that you are ordering the model that is compatible with yours!)

4).  Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens

This is my other go-to lens for traveling.  It is extremely wide angle, 10-20mm, so it is perfect for landscape photographs and for photographs that I need to fit a lot into the picture, but don’t have the distance to do so! (This link is for a lens compatible with a Canon camera.  Please make sure if ordering, that you are ordering the model that is compatible with yours!)

5).  Qipi Camera Sling Style Backpack

This sling style camera bag is perfect if you will be carrying your equipment while hiking or walking any distance.  It allows for easy access to change lenses without having to take off the backpack to get to your equipment.  There is plenty of room for your camera, as well as a couple extra lenses, extra batteries, memory cards, and more!  It even has a built-in waterproof cover that you can wrap over the bag if it starts raining to protect your camera equipment!

6).  Remote Switch

I recommend carrying with you a remote switch for your camera.  Especially if you will be photographing anything that you will need to use a tripod for.  (Waterfalls for example).  This eliminates camera shake by activating your camera’s shutter remotely, instead of using your finger on the shutter release button, causing your images to be sharper.

7).  Large Storage Capacity Memory Card

If you are like me and have a habit of taking a humongous amount of photographs while on vacation (sometimes in the thousands), then you will need a memory card with a large storage capacity (unless you are going to lug around your laptop to download your photographs on each day).  I find that my 32GB memory card has more than enough space on it to store all of the photograph I need until I can get home to download them.  (This image is for a Compact Flash card.  Please make sure, if ordering, that you are getting the correct type of memory card for your camera).

8).  Extra Batteries

There is nothing worse than being on vacation and having your camera battery die in the middle of taking photographs!  Especially if you are on a hike or out in the wilderness, with no way to charge it!  Make sure you bring an extra battery or two, fully charged, to prevent this from happening!  (And don’t forget your battery charger so you can charge them up again when you get back to civilization!).  (This image is for a Canon battery that is compatible with my camera.  If ordering an extra battery, please make sure you are getting the correct battery for your camera).

I hope you enjoyed my photographs, and hopefully this equipment will help you with your own travel photographs!  Safe travels and take lots of photos!!!
