These items are a game changer!!!! Traveling with young children… wow there are so many things we need to remember to bring with us now!  While this is nowhere near a complete list, these are some of the items I have found that we must bring with us when we travel due to their portability and convenience.

1.  The Shrunks inflatable safety bed rail

These were so helpful on our last vacation!  Our two year old sleeps in a regular bed now, however he still needs bed rails so he doesn’t fall out at night.  These bed rails were the perfect solution for traveling!  Now he can sleep in any bed, anywhere! They are inflatable and lightweight.  They come with a carry bag and when deflated, roll up very small for storage and easy portability.  You can blow them up in seconds without a pump (and without running out of breath).  They fit easily under the fitted sheet on any bed, and have a non-slip bottom to stay in place.  When folded, they fit very easily in our luggage and backpack.

2.  Graco Pack ‘N Play

While not a practical solution if traveling by airplane (although it would probably still work if needed as they fold up relatively small and could be checked in as baggage), the Graco Pack ‘n Play was great to bring with us on road trips!  We did not have to worry if the places we stayed had a portable crib available for our baby.  There are a large variety of Pack ‘n Plays to choose from.  We chose the one with the changing station that clips on top, which was convenient to have on trips as I did not have to bend down or get on the floor to change diapers.  It also has storage pockets for diapers, wipes, and anything else that goes along with cleaning baby bottoms.  The Pack ‘n Play sets up very easily, and is dismantled just as easily, folding into a pretty compact rectangle with a carrying case.  It did not take much room in our car either, leaving room for all of our other gear!  Our baby loved it as well and got a full nights sleep on our trip!

3. Summer Infant Pop ‘N Sit Portable Booster Chair

I love this little booster seat!  It’s like a little camping chair for babies!  It folds up pretty small and comes with a carrying case so you can bring it anywhere easily.  It comes with straps to easily secure to a chair, or just use it on the floor.  More straps secure your child to the chair so they can’t get out.  There is a tray that clips on to the front of the chair so your kiddo’s food is easily accessible.  We have used this chair everywhere from picnics, the beach, camping, hotels, restaurants, and home!  Our kids love it too and feel proud that they have their own little chair.

4. Infantino Cuddle Up Baby Carrier with Hood

This carrier was so helpful when toting our baby around town, or going on hikes while traveling!  It is so comfortable, and comes with a cute detachable hood to keep your baby’s head warm on chilly days!  Our baby has even frequently fallen asleep in it while hiking.  We have used this carrier both as front carrying, and back carrying.  It is adjustable and the lower strap really helps keep the weight off of your back.  There is also a pocket to hold small objects like keys or a cell phone.

5. gb Pockit Stroller

If you have read my other posts, you may have seen me mention this one before.  But I feel like I must include it in this post as well, as it really has been a game changer.  This sturdy little stroller is a must have for traveling.  It folds up so small and compact that it hardly takes up any space in your car, and fits under an airplane seat so can be taken on the plane as well!  It folds up easily with the press of a button on each handle, and unfolds just as easily.  When folded, it even has a handle so it can easily be carried into restaurants, or wherever you are going.  There is a pocket underneath that will hold a few items, and a sun shade that folds over the top.  This is my number one must have item to bring with us when traveling.
